Postal Plant Closing in Chattanooga

Recently they announced that our local Postal Mail Processing plant will be closing. This will effect 100's of employees that work in the plant. Possiby even being laid off.

I contacted my Representatives in hope that they will fight to keep the plant open and in Chattanooga. But they are both republican and ultra conservative. I also contacted the Progressive Caucus to see if they were going to fight to keep these postal plants accross the country open.

So far no one has responded. Has anyone heard anything on this issue? I hate to see these jobs leave our local economies and I have 2 very dear friends that will be impacted if the plant closes.

for post offices losing Billions every year. This is unavoidable.
Has any one noticed that P.O employees are exceptionally courteous
now a days, or am I imagining things?

I was always courteous! It was the clerks behind the counter you always saw. We carriers were kind, and helpful! That is what I miss the most,my people on my route. I had the same route for 23 years! That will not happen today!

has been exceptionally kind and helpful. Mail carriers and clerks alike. There are always a few exceptions (and hey, maybe they were just having a bad day) but I have always like dealing with the folks of the U.S. Postal Service.

4. Bullshit. The PO is required to pay $5Billion every year to pre-fund retirements 75 years

in the future. They have to fund them NOW/ because of a bill Bush the lesser and his GOP stooges pushed thru I believe
in 2006. It is more of the RW attack on UNIONS. The way to save the PO is to remove this ridiculous burden now.
The fact that you are not hearing about it is because both political parties have sold out to the same interests.
