on that linked article suggested just that possibility. There might very well be some truth to it, although there's no way to ever really know, of course. I do think he has a lot of issues, issues that led to Martin's murder and that lead to his continual flaunting of the law. He has a lot of anger and aggression and is also thin-skinned, which is a horrible combination. Then again, I do think he has sociopathic tendencies and those can only be hidden for so long.

I read a book about Richard "Race Horse" Haynes who is one of the most famous defense lawyers in the nation. He successfully defended, multimillionaire Cullen Davis who was very likely guilty of murder . He was on his boat when he learned that Cullen Davis was arrested again for murder. Haynes said "I get to get a bigger boat."

He devised a successful strategy (made Zimmy do a public interview to use at trial without exposing him to a cross examination of his story...that was clever) and found the holes in the case and effectively plugged them with help from the incompetent and sympathetic police department and an ineffective prosecution.

Successful lawyers deserve recognition in spite of the fact that their job sometimes is to make sure that even the worst among us gets the best defense possible.

Hope George Zimmerman will eventually meet Karma.

Mon Sep 9, 2013, 04:35 PM
Sep 2013

as their new "legal analyst" and shilled shamelessly for Zimmerman all throughout the whole controversy and the trial. And that's not even getting into the fact that they often gave false/incorrect reports with erroneous facts before they even had all of the facts and before they ever did any in-depth verifying. I refuse to watch anything with O'Mara in it. Intellectually, as a former paralegal and as the wife of an attorney, I know that he was doing his job and did it well and that everyone deserves that kind of defense when on trial. Emotionally, however, it's a whole other story and he disgusts me to no end, especially his treatment of Trayvon's family and friends and his shameless racial fear-mongering. So I don't trust any "news" entity that hires him as an analyst.

Come to think of it, they do that a lot nowadays with a lot of other news, also. I wouldn't believe anything they reported on this newest incident anymore than I would believe Fox. And I used to be a huge fan of CNN while Turner still had control of it, before he sold out to Big Commercial Time Warner and it began its downward spiral.

I still remember when CNN finally and completely jumped the shark for me. It was in the spring of 2005, during the whole hyped-up "runaway bride" bullshit. There was a white woman who'd gone "missing" the week before her wedding, which, of course, made for a great "story" for the networks. As the week went on, the evidence began to make it more and more obvious that she hadn't been kidnapped or suffered any other such "foul play", but had actually taken off in order to avoid her wedding. She'd cut and dyed her hair, changed other aspects of her looks, taken out money and then boarded a bus and ridden several hundred miles away. She finally called her family and fiance and "confessed" the night before the wedding, a Friday night. That Saturday, Iraq erupted in flames as there were several coordinated attacks on Americans and American military outposts, as well as many civilians, all throughout the day.

But you certainly wouldn't have known that from watching CNN, however. Oh, no, they had far more important things to cover. Like spending all day showing the family home where the wedding and reception was supposed to take place and what was happening (never mind that it was known by then what had happened with her and she was on her way home) and then sending a reporter to accompany Jennifer Runaway Bride (can't remember the bitch's last name anymore) on her plane ride home and covering the "reunion" with family and fiance. It had NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING on Iraq whatsoever, NOTHING. Or any other news, for that matter. It was all the "runaway bride" horseshit that had nothing to do with anything and was of no importance whatsoever. THAT was when I'd finally had enough of them, and they've proved themselves worthless ever since. Certainly their fact-checking leaves much to be desired.

And the tool Wolf Blitzer puts the icing on the cake. I remember during Katrina, when he was interviewing some Army Corps of Engineering people about the breakdown of the levees and they were discussing how maintenance had been underfunded for the past few years. He flat out asked "so, who's to blame for this, then, Clinton"? No kidding. Couldn't have been more obvious.

Police are investigating a "possible domestic battery" involving Zimmerman on Sprucewood Road, Lake Mary police Officer Zach Hudson said this afternoon. The police spokesman said it was his understanding that a gun was involved.

Hudson said the investigation is in its early stages, and it was unclear whether Zimmerman or anyone would be arrested. No significant injuries were suffered in the incident, Hudson said.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.

I don't know about "some" who thought this was only a "local story." There is plenty enough shooting stuff which has been posted by bulk rate, as recently as last Thursday, which are plenty local, and plenty repetitive. And of course if a "local" story is posted here which shows the advantages of armed self-defense, then they might somehow violate TOS.

As for the trial, I didn't see the big-time significance attributed to it, but it became national so there it is. It was a self-defense plea by an idiot who violated the first rule of concealed-carry: avoid confrontation. Zimmerman didn't. It's not a crime, but he precipitated the results, whether he meant to or not, whether he was guilty of anything or not.

Discuss all you want, lobby, write letters, post ever-more threads. What are you looking for in all this, Tommy? Jeez, we are about to go to war, have a teetering economy, and a government which seems ever-more frightened of and oppressive toward its citizens. I should think these are of greater priority. In my opinion.

George Zimmerman, the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer acquitted of murder in the shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, is under investigation this afternoon after his wife told police that he’d threatened her family, police confirmed.

Police are investigating a “possible domestic battery” involving Zimmerman on Sprucewood Road, Lake Mary police Officer Zach Hudson said this afternoon.

About 3:40 p.m., Hudson said that Zimmerman was no longer detained and was not in custody. The police spokesman said Zimmerman has been cooperating with police.

According to Lake Mary police Chief Steve Bracknell, Zimmerman’s wife Shellie Zimmerman called police and said that her husband had made threats to her family “with his hand on his gun.”

She also alleged that George Zimmerman had battered her father, David Dean, Bracknell said.

The police chief said about 3:30 p.m. Shellie Zimmerman and her father were consulting with their attorney to decide whether to give a sworn statement or press charges.

Hudson said the investigation is in its early stages, and it was unclear whether Zimmerman or anyone would be arrested. No significant injuries were suffered in the incident, Hudson said.

George Zimmerman's wife not planning to press charges in domestic dispute

ORLANDO—

UPDATE: The estranged wife of George Zimmerman is not planning to press charges after police were called to a domestic dispute in central Florida on Monday, said Lake Mary police chief Steve Bracknell.

Zimmerman, the Florida man who was acquitted of murder in the shooting of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin in 2012, was being questioned on Monday by police after his wife called 911 saying he threatened her and her father with a gun, police said.

No one had been arrested and police officers were at the scene at a house belonging to Shellie Zimmerman's father, police added.

to do so and just want to get him out of their lives asap. I agree they should press charges, but visceral fear is a pretty strong thing that can override a lot of common sense. She sounded absolutely terrified on the 911 call, and you could hear Zimmie yelling in the background as she screamed at her father to get back inside the house.

What the fuck IS is with this motherfucker that he seems to get away with everything? Did he sell his soul to the devil or something?

115. In my state no one gets to "press charges"
Mon Sep 9, 2013, 05:40 PM

In this case, for instance, while his wife was the victim, the crime was committed against the State, and thus only the State has the authority to press charges or not. I guess Florida is just weird that way.

She couldn't be forced to testify against him, but she could be forced to testify about the 911 call. Her father had physical marks and has no immunity whatsoever.

I imagine the local state's attorney thought the media frenzy would e a clusterfuck of epic proportions and just hopes the thing goes away, although it would be lovely if Zimmerman lost his gun privileges.

it's another bullshit scam that his wife and he are pulling off together. They lied about money that was donated to Zimmerman, maybe they're trying to make it look like he's this beaten down guy with his wife leaving him and and throw in a little gun action so the righties will beat a bath to his bank account to support him and make excuses for his psycho behavior. Then they "reconcile" and clean up and leave the country.

It's completely asinine but hey stranger things have happened. And I'm totally cynical so...

is a bit hot on the handle and has a propensity towards aggressive behavior. No need to concoct wild stories about that.

I have a selfish husband. And I think George is all about George. I think I’m realizing that I have been married to a person for almost seven years, and I don’t think that I ever really knew him at all.

{Shellie} says she believes the not guilty verdict has left her husband feeling "invincible" and since then has been "making some reckless decisions."

Report: George Zimmerman Allegedly Threatened Family Members With A Gun

Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman is under police investigation for a possible domestic battery following a fight with his wife and her family on Monday afternoon. According to news channel WKMG Local 6, police are “trying to determine what exactly happened” but they report a gun was present. The Associated Press reports that Zimmerman allegedly violently threatened his estranged wife, Shellie, and her father first with a knife, punched the father-in-law in the nose, and pulled out his gun at her parents’ house in Lake Mary, Central Florida, just days after Shellie filed for divorce.

Although police have released Zimmerman, they did take away his gun.

In her 911 call, Shellie said, “He continuously has his hand on his gun and he keeps saying ‘get closer.” On the call she also said, “Dad get inside the house George might start shooting at us” and “I’m really really afraid. I don’t know what he’s capable of.” Listen to the full audio:

Mon Sep 9, 2013, 09:27 PM
Sep 2013

"There was an altercation and one party put their hands on another party," Hudson added. "We're still trying to figure out who touched whom."

Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara blamed the incident on "fallout" from the Martin case, as well as heightened emotions over the impending divorce. "No one is filing charges against anybody," he said, adding that he had heard the 911 call. "Emotions are running very high," he added.

O'Mara confirmed Zimmerman had his gun on him. "He was armed ... He put his hand (on the gun) to make sure it was holstered," he said. "He knows how to carry responsibly."

Police initially took away Zimmerman's gun, but O'Mara said it was later returned to his client.

Shellie Zimmerman's lawyer was also at the scene but did not return calls seeking comment.
