Has the Great War been averted?

By "Great War" I, of course, mean the Great Syrian Proxy War of Democratic Underground. But if war has been averted, then who won?

The Interventionists will claim a victory because their man, Barack (12 dimensions) Obama, clearly outwitted Putin into promising to get Syria to destroy their chemical weapons, which is all Obama ever wanted.

The Non-Interventionists will claim a victory because 21st Century Axis of Evil (Israel, Saudi Arabia and France) didn't get regime change, soaring oil profits or more dead Muslims.

Personally, if this move avoids escalating the war in Syria, I think we have all won.

Congratulations to Everyone!

I hope....

But with public opinion solidifying against it by vast majorities, I think this gives Obama a way to back away from the precipice without looking weak.

Let's hope he doesn't get pushed over the edge.

The DU civil war over Obama won't end until he leaves office in 2016.

or we'll argue over who's responsible for the republican president. That's what we do.

If Obama forges ahead with his disastrous plan, after Putin accepted the offer, he will be viewed on the world stage as incompetent. After Rice's statement, he probably already is.

I really, really wish Obama would honor the agreement his Secretary of State offered and claim victory.
