So, you want to punish Syria for illegal and immoral acts that violate International Law?

Then take the entire issue to the UN.

This is exactly why the UN was created, to deal with issues like this.

Force the hand of the International Community of Nations.

Have the debate front and center on the UN stage for all the world to participate in and see.

Affirm the existence of International Law by working inside the primary entity created to enforce it.

The problem is that the UN isn't a governing body - it isn't a court. el_bryanto Sep 2013 #6
The way around that is certainly not through war. morningfog Sep 2013 #8

...far more profitable. Every multi-million dollar cruise missile that goes bang must be replaced. Unused missiles clog inventory and slow down production lines.

Just sayin'

It's an organization of diplomats in which each nation acts not out of sense of justice but out of a sense of what's best for their nation. Russia feels that keeping Assad in power is good for them, and so they rationally are going to block any resolution that would permit action against Assad. There are other nations in which we would take a similar stance.

I don't know how you get around that.

to get another war started.

They CAN'T do that with Syria. The whole world knows now that they are lying, and as several former US officials are now saying, the 'intel is being cooked'.

Just like Iraq, that is why Bush couldn't wait for the UN to investigate either.

And this is why the Brits opted out. Because they know Blair lied and he may yet be punished there for his lies, unlike here we don't bother with War Crimes when they are ours.
