Man found fatally stabbed in Rock Creek Park identified as from Northwest Washington
The man found fatally stabbed on Monday along a stream in Rock Creek Park has been identified as a 49-year-old man from Northwest Washington, according to D.C. police.
Police said Matias Molina was found about 7:50 p.m. Monday, lying along a creek bed in a wooded area near Beach Drive and Joyce Road NW. The site is just north of Military Road and about a mile north of a U.S. Park Police station.
Beach Drive is clogged with commuters during the week but is closed to traffic and used by bikers and joggers on weekends and holidays. Its also near a popular picnic area. Police would not comment on a possible motive for the stabbing but said Molina was not wearing clothing consistent with outdoor recreational activities.

We consider that area safe, U.S. Park Police Maj. Keith Horton said.
