Weiner: "I’m convinced that I’m gonna be the next mayor of this city.”

The city is, of course, Delusionville, population 1.

...A taped pre-interview between Weiner and Guthrie appeared Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” and Weiner admitted to Guthrie that his campaign was a gamble.

“From the moment go, I was waging this campaign on a bet,” he said. “And the bet was basically that I know that people have embarrassing things they would hear about me and did know about me and my background.”...

Weiner told Guthrie he knew “100 percent” his past would be a distraction in his campaign, and overshadow his message and ideas...

Guthrie asked whether he would still run, if given the chance to go back in time. “No one gets to go back and redo things,” he said. “I’m convinced that I’m gonna be the next mayor of this city.”

But I'm afraid we haven't heard the last of this Weiner. He's too much of a narcissist to go away for good.

Too much dick is in your way. Keep it covered up and try again in a few years.

Last polls, IIRC, have him at about 7%, in fourth place. It's not typical to interview a candidate that far down in the pack ... unless, of course, there's some prurient interest they think they can eke out of it. Why he accepted to be interviewed is yet another question. But I think past displays of delusion and ego explain it.
