Our National Fairy Tale No Longer Does The Trick

MIC spokespeople (Bush, Cheney and Co., and now Kerry and Obama) like to pretend that we're do-gooders all around the world, that the exceptional U.S. of A. is some kind of big brother to every other nation, looking out for the welfare of every little tyke and dear old grandma on the planet.

Americans have always liked that version of our national story, and are prone to waving flags in excitement over such do-gooder activities. The distasteful notion that we'd slaughter little tykes and dear old grandmas so that corporations can exploit resources and haul in loads of cash just doesn't fit in our story.

What's different now is a critical mass of people aren't buying the fairy tale anymore. Finally!

Now we have hope and might see some change!
