Does anybody else think Mikhail Gorbachev was more of a small d democrat than the Russian leaders who succeeded him ?
Scholars who studied the old Soviet Union predicted that if the Soviet system was overthrown that it wouldn't result in a liberal democracy replacing it but something more akin to the Czarist days, however somewhat more benign to meet the needs of a modern society.
