SOMETIMES we the people WIN!! (no kum n go in colorado springs neighborhood)

Kum And Go Will Not Be Built

Locals are calling it a big win. Wednesday, a gas company decided a new station will not be built in Old Colorado City. "This is really good news for Old Colorado City and the west side," Cucuru Gallery Café owner Guillermo Alvarado said.
&quot I’m) just happy to see them go, that's all," Front Range Barbeque owner Brian Fortinberry said

The community was outraged when Kum and Go announced it would build a new gas station on Colorado Avenue between 23rd and 24th Streets. It would have been where the Discover
Goodwill building stands now. Locals started to put up signs, held protest rallies and started petition drives. Wednesday the company scrapped its plans to build.
"It felt good we didn't have to worry about a boycott and other things we had planned," Alvarado said.

Kum and Go spokeswoman Traci Rodemeyer told us on the phone that several factors went into the final decision, but she said they absolutely took into account the push back from the community.

It's Colorado Springs. Fairly conservative place, I can't imagine they'd be thrilled over a glo--

Oh, it's a gas station?

two miles. because the name is offensive. because they tried to sneak it past the community. because we don't want the blight of a 10-pump, 24-hour monstrosity in this neighborhood.

would YOU like a 10-pump, 24-hour, 5000 sq. ft. gas station right across the street from you (the same question I asked the city planners)? if so, I can hook you up with some property for sale across the street from their OTHER planned location less than a mile away.

Big gas stations also tend to move in where there's a lot more traffic than I'd like near me.

really pissed me off. listening to the guy from goodwill touting the benefits of this disgusting company to our neighborhood made me sick. the ONLY benefit would have been to goodwill--and, since I had just learned about how little they pay some of their employees, and how much free labour they get from community service, etc, was truly sickening.

Mothertruckers

Every time they wrote it on the bowling score recap I ignored their request. Every week they asked why I did not put it on our league sheet.
After week #4, I GAVE then a name.. "Unacceptable Name Request".

They KEPT that name
