"To make things 'perfectly clear' is reactionary and stupefying. The real is not perfectly clear."

-Avital Ronell

I think the fundamental basis behind conservative philosophy, besides the hatred of humanity, is the naive belief that all of life's problems can be squeezed out and filtered down to a fine concentration of "common sense." Are they not the party of common sense? There is the underlying principle behind all of their words and deeds that every possible circumstance can be simplified so that a toddler could understand.

Right wingers like to make exclamations like "it's just that easy" or "I like to keep it simple."

The only simple conclusion in life is that nothing is so simple. From there we build upon the necessity of intellect over the feeling of the gut.

Could you imagine a world where every critical decision was made on the basis of a gut feeling? There would be nothing left but scorched earth.
