U.S. attorney in Sacramento today to discuss pot dispensary crackdown

http://blogs.sacbee.com/capitolalertlatest/2012/02/am-alert-us-attorney-talks-pot-dispensery-crackdown.html

The federal Justice Department's recent crackdown on medicinal marijuana dispensaries is expected to be the topic of heated debate at a Sacramento Press Club luncheon today.

Benjamin Wagner, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California, is scheduled to address the issue today at a luncheon sponsored by the Sacramento Press Club.

... Wagner and California's other U.S. Attorneys have argued that California's voter-approved law legalizing the use, cultivation and possession of marijuana for medicinal purposes has been "hijacked by profiteers." Supporters of the state's 16-year-old medical marijuana law say the move is putting dispensaries out of business and undermining the voter-approved Proposition 215.

... The Press Club's Kathy Beasley said the group is expecting "high turnout" for today's lunch, with at least 90 tickets sold as of Monday afternoon. Unlike most monthly lunches, about 40 of the reservations are from non-members.

I thought that Pres Obama said the Feds would back off on the Caalifornia dispensories? Who's driving the Feds? Complain to the Pres and have him back off the Feds.

There needs to be a decision that state laws should prevail over federal law. That way states can be test groups that enact laws and show how the change plays out.

If we wait for the Federal government to make change we'll be waiting forever.

Look at all the people who use MJ now and we're still having problems with legalization. Look at all the people who have been using since the 50s and have never been sent to jail. We have a majority - Who the hell is holding up the legalization? A few stupid kids in suits who are afraid that the ageing boomers are going to laught too hard and have heart attacks while watching Funiest Home Videos. Give me a break!

Retailers that sell liquor make a profit all the time.

Tax the industry & make some $$ on it.

People who get high don't have domestic squabbles & beat their wives & don't get addicted & have other problems with a bit of weed.

WTF? The DOJ needs to get its head out of its ASS.
