Since the United States is not in danger of an "imminent attack" the President must follow the Constitution and the War Powers Act of 1973 and come to the Congress for support before going forward with a military strike of any kind.[Pols emphasis]
To, as CBS4 reported yesterday:
Coffman says the delay in striking Assad has wasted precious time. [Pols emphasis]
The Assad government has had all the time in the world to move their assets around so they dont present themselves as easy targets, he said.
If we're reading this right, Coffman has gone from demanding President Barack Obama obtain approval from Congress before attacking Syria to criticizing Obama for doing so, since "the delay in striking Assad has wasted precious time." We've been trying to figure out a way that President Obama could have made Coffman happy here, but between Obama being obliged to ask Congress, but having "wasted precious time" by asking Congress, we've basically got nothing. It would appear that Obama can do nothing right at all in Coffman's eyes....

(22,877 posts)this particular congress is populated by looney tunes. There are some awesome liberals and progressives.. but look what they have to deal with. The looney tunes will not even let discussions happen on the floors of congress. We do NOT have a third branch of government with this congress.. We have Looney Tunes hell bent of taking down the goverment.

(6,539 posts)He's generally considered to be normal but this statement doesn't help make the case. He replaced Tom Tancredo and my neighborhood was recently redistricted into his district.
Before these magical statements, I saw him as an existential problem: He's with the tea party crazies because he's not against them.

This may explain our slide into third world status.

BTW: Why does having served in the military make him an expert on Syria?
(From the article: an issue he should be an expert on as a former Marine officer)
