The only two things guaranteed by military action in Syria:

1. It's going to cause civilian casualties
2. It's going to cost a shitload of money

That's IT. Nothing else. No guarantees about whether it's going to help opposition turn the table on Assad, let alone overthrow him, or whether Syria would be any better off afterwards even if those were to happen.

Opposing military intervention in this case simply cannot get any easier.

And all these secret covert domestic security contractors floating information from the NSA and FBI to the CIA so that Americans are practically enemies in their own country if we couldn't sneak into Syria and figure out what is really going on in there.

We have all this supposed intelligence capability wasted here at home, for some asshole to read our grocery list text messages.

All this loss of domestic freedom and privacy and we still need bombs to resolve some other countries' civil war. I don't feel safer for any of it.

Kerry has said time and time again that the point of seeking congressional approval in this case is NOT to attempt to resolve Syria's civil war! That's the worst part of all this. Apparently, it's just to limit Assad's capabilities and then cross our fucking fingers that the opposition will not only gain control over major areas, but then successfully overthrow the government, put in a transition government, and end up with some semblance of stability and path towards reconciliation for all parties involved.

That's right: drop bombs, hope to god it works. This is the United States' foreign policy in 2013 after two, failed wars. Simply unreal.

Divert attention from the atrocities going on here at home for those who "tell" us what we should be doing and thinking (as in the media talkingheads)
