(13,340 posts)Science is NOT about truth. Science is about building models that can explain the evidence. The nature of that exercise is that you never actually arrive at The Truth(tm). To paraphrase Indiana Jones, if you want Truth, take a philosophy class.

(63 posts)What should we do? Go back to corncobs or moss?
OK, Seriously. I think the neo-con types give us plenty of ammo without us having to sink to their level.
As for my own thoughts about the tea party, I think they are a narrow visioned group that thinks you can make things better by turning back the clock. Not possible, but some of their views could be considered Libertarian thus making them attractive to some people.
you didn't go there. lmao.

(29,414 posts)You might also use some pedestal-worthy republican that was a staunch supporter of the sciences with which to shove that idea in their faces (and heads.)
I'm guessing it would have to be someone before reagan, though in a way, he did support the science of war, what with his SDI program...

(27,670 posts)We had a local slang word for teabillies where I grew up - weeshers.
Weesher is one of those words, like teabilly, that sounds like what it is.
"The weeshers are marching to exterminate the spotted owls"
"The teabillies are protesting teaching science in schools"
