We have been "deterring and degrading" al Qaeda's capabilities for 12 years now.

For over 12 years we have been working towards that undefinable goal of deterring and degrading AQ's capabilities in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

That is the current language bantered about as "limited" military response.

But now, the script is writing itself. Congress is clearly on board. It will be an interesting break down. But, in the end, the US is going alone headstrong into another unnecessary and ill-defined war. Without the UN or a direct threat to our country, it will be an illegal war.

So far, the only actual limitation discussed is 60 + 30 days from the Senate draft to be voted on in committee. 90 days of unnecessary war is 90 days too many. And what would be left in its wake? I just don't see how this won't violate the primary rule of "Do no harm." Not to mention violate international law.

What is the proffer that this would be legal under international law?
