Rick Santorum: Degreed and Intellectually Flawed!
Rick Santorum was on a roll with his “degreed and intellectually flawed” attacks today. First he attacked PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY!?!? In a September 12, 1960 address to the Greater Houston Ministerial Association, President Kennedy stated “I believe in an America where the Separation of church and state is absolute.” Rick said that President Kennedy’s statement made him “want to throw up”! Rick doesn’t need President Kennedy’s words to upchuck. All he needs to do is LISTEN to himself speak!
Rick’s next “degreed and intellectually flawed” attack was on college students!?!? Rick called President Obama a “snob” by GROSSLY DISTORTING the President’s views on education. Rick stated that the President “wants every American to go to college to remake YOU into his image”!?!? RICK LIED. In his State of the Union Address, the President called for actions to support ALL LEVELS of education: “If we want innovation TO PRODUCE JOBS IN AMERICA AND NOT OVERSEAS – then we also have to win the race to educate our kids”. The President talked about focusing on math and science education where America, consistently, “lags behind other nations”; promoting “high expectations and high performance in the classroom”; increasing the educational involvement of parents and communities, and treating the people who educate our children with “respect”. What the President ACTUALLY SAID about college was that “higher education MUST BE WITHIN THE REACH of every American.”
You would think that someone running for President of the United States would WANT higher education to be “within reach of every American” instead of ONLY wealthy Americans SUCH AS THEMSELVES. President Obama is looking out for everybody. He overcame the Tea Partied Republican Congressional BLOCKADE towards establishing and naming a Director for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau which saves college students from predatory lenders. He made “college affordability” a high priority in his FY13 /budget by limiting the need to borrow and keeping college debt manageable, and he supports the Institute for College Access & Success with his plan to continue the investment in Pell Grants and other need-based student financial aid resources.
Now that I think about it, I really ought to give Rick a break. In addition to THREE COLLEGE DEGREES, Santorum has gone out of his way “to remake you into HIS (snobby) image” - SWEATER VESTS!
