I can't seriously be the only one bothered be the way the Syria debate is being framed, can i?

I mean yes it's completely horrific what Assad has been doing to his people. But making the case for going to war around Syria's children is downright despicable and way more horrifying! So what, the solution to saving the children of Syria and stopping a murderous dictator is to completely destroy the country, raising cities and killing hundreds of thousands in the process like we did with Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea, Vietnam, etc? Get fucking real! There is no good that will come of A war with Syria. None whatsoever ever.

Why aren't we asking these questions?

1. Who installed Assad into power in the first place?

2. Who armed him?

3. Where are the weapons Assad used being manufactured?

If we don't answer these questions and go after the real people responsible for this tragedy, the children of Syria will be just another statistic.

You know, just a few bombs dropped to send a message.

I'm bothered by it too, because I know that our govt's 'concern' for the people of Syria is fake. I'm not that naive.

We've already been told that the objective is not to dethrone Assad, but to destroy his ability to use chem weapons. Ok....but he's got other weapons he can use if we wants, and he's got friends in Iran and Russia. Even if we remove Assad, his replacement will not be our friend.

Any time we go to war with another country like this, we gain nothing. Assad will be gone but who will replace him will not be a friend or ally of the US. Afghanistan was a secular nation until the CIA staged a coup in the 60s and replaced their government with a fundamentalist Islamic dictatorship. But my point is the question of where is Assad getting his weapons from is what really needs to be asked.

Iran and Russia are Syria's friends, and an oil pipeline through Syria to the gulf will be controlled by Russia. There's a lot of money to be had by controlling that resource.

Remember the babies being ripped from incubators in Kuwait? Improving the lives of women in Afghanistan? The rape rooms in Iraq?

It is never enough to give just the real reason for war. The entire kitchen sink of morality always needs to be thrown in.

1. His father actually took control at a time when the Syrian government was weak, after the French had withdrawn!

2. Most of the weapons used by the Syrian military appear to be Russian made!

3. Once again the arms that Syria is using are manufactured in Russia!

His brother who should have been president died. So -Assad got the job.

Given that the 11th is coming up, the 50th anniversary of the US removing democracy from Chile, please don't give me any puke about the absense of democracy in Syria.
