He looks more alert or younger in the face than I recall.

(25,265 posts)because Boxer looks younger than I recall as well and I met Boxer in person a couple of years ago and she looks a lot younger now.
I'm wondering if this is the new thing for politicians to do.

(3,957 posts)And sorry but I don't like it. His face looks odd to me.

(12,606 posts)Also, plastic surgery isn't always an improvement. He looks like a muppet now: especially since his upper lip seems to be frozen at times.
But it is his life, and he can do what he wants with it.

(381 posts)That John Kerry looks like a corpse now. I find it sad. I used to really think he was handsome and smart-what happened?

(12,606 posts)For the life of me there is another politician, Not Edward Musky, but another politician (US) that looks a lot like John Kerry, but is older.
I can't remember his name, and it is driving me

(26,219 posts)It looked like a combo of botox and a chin/jaw job. I've had botox done. Not to the frozen face point, so maybe wasn't enough, but thought the result was just 'meh' for the money it cost at the time.
If it makes him happy.

The TV news outlets seem to be editing out the red carpet chit-chat that precedes these events, so we may never know the answers to today's most pressing questions.

I first thought face lift, but face lifts don't cause your face to be fuller, just tighter.

(1,091 posts)His Muscular Dystrophy telethon? He was blown up like a fat frog. He had the classic "moon face". A year later he was back to normal.
I hope Kerry doesn't get the "moon face" if is is Cortisone.

(11,840 posts)was the first thing I noticed - but, for me, it was his left.

(15,682 posts)it is the eye on the left side. But that would be his right eye, wouldn't it?

Criticism of a person's face I think is shallow. Are we like the National Enquirer here??

(7,318 posts)does not inspire confidence in somone in such a high-powered position on the world stage. The slighty slurred speech, the droopy eye, and the slight droop in the mouth are all on the same side of his face.

(2,978 posts)And I'm not putting down the OP for asking--I think we should examine men's appearance as much as we do women's for a while, so that more folks will wake up to how viscerally ridiculous it is when the MSM focuses on women leaders' "looks" and blames them for aging and blames them for spending money to look more youthful.
In that vein, it looks like he's had a neck/chin lift and at least an upper bleph--the latter of which can be done for medical reasons, because sagging eyes can begin to impede vision in one's 60s/70s, esp if you've got a connective tissue disorder, in which ptosis can be common (and the Marfan's look does seem plausible). They haven't done a forehead lift, it appears, to compensate, which may be why his brows are hanging so much closer to his eyes now. OTOH, forehead and mask lifts on men do look pretty jarring (see Kenny Rogers or Mickey Rourke), so I can see why he held off.
I hope he's not on steroids for anything too serious.
