We can't fix the world. Especially with violence.

What has happened in Syria is horrific and the response from any person with a shred of empathy is to keep it from happening again. I agree wholeheartedly with that and believe Assad did gas his people. But what will bombing solve? What does this eye for an eye mentality do to help anyone?

In how many other corners of the world are people dying unjustly? How many people and how much marine life will die and suffer from the Fukushima disaster that's morphing into a global crisis as I type this? (and ignored by US media and government?). How many people die in the US every day from lack of shelter and food, lack of healthcare?

If the decision is made to bomb Syria, it will not be made because those in power CARE about the Syrian people. It will be made because other factors are involved, making it an attractive option for those who stand to profit from it, and if more people die, so what.

I am so tired of war and fighting in the name of profit. I am so tired of human beings NOT caring about each other enough to stop hurting each other.

Best I can do as one small, insignificant person - envision a positive outcome, no matter how impossible that sounds. And turn off the damn TV.

You'd think as humans, with our big fantastic superior brains, we'd have figured that out by now.

I am not advocating doing nothing, but there have got to be other options. What if we drop gas masks and medicine into the country.

What will bombing achieve?

It's too easy to just sit down and sing "we shall overcome", while the world is in chaos. You cannot claim to be against war crimes are and at the same time remain passive to on-going genocide in places like Rwanda, Sudan or Yugoslavia. Genocides should be stopped. Period. But that doesn't mean that US alone should act as the world police, simply assuming that no other power is competent enough for the task. If you are a neocon you might think so, but not if you like to unite the world, rather than fracture it. True force and legitimacy can only be found in large coalitions, preferably with the blessing of UN.
