Who Cares What the American People Think?

I hear a lot of talk about convincing our Senators and Representatives that it would be good to strike at Iraq.
However, the American citizens that I talk to don't want us to get into more military conflict.
Isn't Congress supposed to represent the people?
I never expected much from the Bush Administration.
But now I feel disenfranchised.
