So Tim Tebow is a failure. There IS justice in the Universe after all... What should he do?

Maybe he should renounce his Faith and become a DJ in a strip club. Maybe he should become an Enforcer for the Amish Mafia?

Maybe he should stand on a street corner and dare people to look the NFL's BIGGEST and BADDEST defensive linemen, linebackers, cornerbacks and safeties in the eye, put their head down, and try to run over them for first downs like he has.

Maybe he should stand on a street corner and challenge people to throw a touchdown pass on the first play of SUDDEN DEATH in an NFL playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers like HE did, or to even manage to work their way into that situation in the first place. Nah, too easy.

Maybe he should stand on a street corner and challenge people to win a Heisman Trophy like he did.

The hatred for his beliefs blinds people to what hard work and dedication can achieve. Hard work and dedication. NO ONE rises to the level he did without that, no matter what their beliefs are. Who knows though, maybe it's just that he's left-handed? NO amount of money, NO silver spoon can get you to that place. That's HUNDREDS of tons in the weight room. That's HUNDREDS of miles on the track. That's THOUSANDS of hours of practice. That's THOUSANDS of times getting off of your back after being knocked on your ass during practice and games, from the age of about EIGHT YEARS OLD.

Seriously though... people make me laugh. I'm amazed that hatred for The Flying Spaghetti Monster so blinds people to what hard work and dedication can do for a person that their past accomplishments are tossed by the wayside when they fail. His failure is cheered, his accomplishments, which are MANY, and pretty much legendary, are discredited because, well, he Tebows after being part of a successful play. Flying Spaghetti Monster forbid! Kneeling with your elbow on your knee and your fist on your forehead should be strictly forbidden because we all know what it means! Bad! Bad! Kids, avert your eyes!

Cheer his failure, and sleep better tonight knowing that a bitter blow has been struck for the cause. A young man whose beliefs are at odds with everyone who hates the Flying Spaghetti Monster has failed at achieving his fondest dream. Woe is him! Yay for us though, huh?! Hard work and dedication be damned, he believes in something we DON'T!

Best of luck, Tim. You WORKED for all you achieved. Thousands of hours. Before the sun rose, and after it set. It took bruises, scrapes, blood, and lots of pain for you to get where you are. Keep trying. Too bad your name isn't Clinton, huh?

He also won 2 national championships, a Heisman Trophy, and had a better win loss record in college than Tebow....

Like Tebow, he was also cut today, unlike Tebow he was released with very little fan fare. Point is it's obvious that Tim has used his religious beliefs to get millions of people nation wide to fight his life battles for him. This enabled him to receive several chances to make it in the NFL, chances that many other accomplished college QB's (the landscape of the sport is littered with them) never received.

I guess I was trying to say... oh hell, I forgot what I was trying to say.

He worked his ass off. He did good. God didn't get him to where he was, he did. Maybe it wasn't good enough, but he tried, and he tried hard. That's gotta be worth something no matter what he believes in and should shine brighter than the hatred for those beliefs. I just don't like the victory dance at someone's failure, when others succeed simply because of their name.

I believe there's a... something. A "higher power". It doesn't affect my day to day actions nor do I attribute my successes or failures to that belief, but it's there. My failures are mine. My success are mine. The lottery numbers...? They'll come. I know it.

The most I know is of him kneeling on the playing field in homage to his god. Growing up catholic, we would kneel in thanks for a success, and kneel in humbleness for a loss but, in my church, we would never display in public. For me, such a display is bragging about how much money you make.

They hate him because he isn't good enough of a quarterback to play that position in the NFL, and he won't play any other.

He'd be a good running back or safety. If he'd quit thinking the world revolves around Tim Tebow and take a job as a position player, he'd do well. But nooooooo...Tim has to be a quarterback, and when he's a quarterback he either wins by a field goal or loses by thirty points.

Which is most likely why they're hating on him. So he can't compete in the NFL. Big deal. It's an exclusive club that has rejected lots of talent. He did kick ass in college. I just don't get the hate. And saying its about his religion says more about the haters than him. I wish him well.

Oh yea...he also helped me win my fantasy league a few years ago. So....I'm totally on his side. $700 large that year.

Sun Sep 1, 2013, 08:56 AM
Sep 2013

Tebow seems like a likable, well grounded honest individual, all showboating his faith aside. He QB'd a pitiful team to the second round of the playoffs, threw a great Hail Mary pass to defeat a atrong playoff contender, got knocked out by a dynasty team, played in the NFL( and that alone is a feat)for the better part of three seasons, has name recognition and enough cash to retire on....he already had a great college career....he has nothing to be ashamed of if he were to call it quits today. He has his health and his wits about him...he's young....he has a will to work to achieve his goals and I'm sure whatever he puts his mind too he will accomplish. We really need to stop the hatred of this guy. There are some truly dangerous and psychotic people out there in positions of power that we all should be channeling our efforts on....is Tim Tebow sanctimonious? Probably....is he dangerous? Not really....

Good luck
In your future endeavors sir!

I'm a Christian myself (PCUSA). I heaped contempt on Tebow because it is very insulting to invoke God in a mere contest of athleticism. This implies that the other team was not in God's favor and that God has handed them defeat for their heathen beliefs. Come on. It's a fucking game. It's as insulting as Prosperity Gospel, where well off people believe that they are wealthy because God favors them over the poor, whom in their eyes deserves their poverty.

And on the talent front. While the man made it into the NFL, he never should have been a first round draft pick. Anyone performing that badly and being a first round pick is going to get a LOT of criticism.

And he'd be dead, or in jail. Seems to be where too many athletes go these days.

As for his faith or beliefs, it made him an easy target for the masses to watch him fall short. Fall short of something that his haters never achieved, never could achieve, never would achieve.

I'm not a fan of his, frankly I don't like him. As I understand it (and I'll be happy to be corrected on this) he's not very glbt friendly nor pro-choice friendly. But, he's no failure. The world hasn't heard the last from him, for better or worse.
