Inviting comment on this graphic being circulated by conservatives re: MLK Celebration

PLEASE SHARE! Not one of these leaders, authors, activists or business executives was invited to yesterday's Martin Luther King celebration. These gifted individuals are the TRUE legacy of Dr. King's dream...

My first reaction is that even if none of them were invited to the formal ceremonies, nothing prevented any of them from attending.

My second reaction was that Republican Congresscritters who were invited, declined.

Ideally, it should have been a day that rose above politics, but these days, nothing can rise above politics.

What say the rest of DU?

Congrats to them for being able to live the dream.

Oh, and the GOP lie without reservation.

..and I don't judge them by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

(in the cases of many in the graphic, that's precisely the problem).

From what I have read.

Anyway, everybody that went to the ceremony did not get an invite. They went because they wanted to be there. We can only assume that the list of folks above did not want to be there. It appears that they now recognize what a political disaster they committed and are now attempting to cover their tracks?

A source connected to the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington said Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), the only sitting black senator, was not invited to speak at the event because his office had declined an invitation to attend the commemoration as a spectator, Roll Call reported.

The difference is that I think a lack of character is a bad thing. They think it's a job requirement.

How many of those are among the "hundred most influential right-wingers in America?"

The only one who obviously is is Thomas, but I'm not enough of an expert on American conservatives to rule out some of the others being too.

Allen West is certainly beloved by the Tea Party.

Herman Cain is also pretty well respected in conservative circles.

how they got every single Black Republican on one poster, well, except for Colin Powell who had the nerve to vote for the first Black president, twice.

They could have gone like tens of thousands of others that went because they wanted to go. "They didn't get an invite" is only an excuse and a very poor one at that.
