If such were to be the case, kiss the earth, as a habitable place for the human species, good-bye."

4. Of course, what he meant isn't what most of us would think.....

I mean, there's no question that humanity will be able to adapt to AGW.....in fact, we wouldn't have a choice. But for quite a while, I've suspected that Tillerson's intentions were significantly different than what most people would think of as adaptation......I'm talking about what could be a veiled denial of climate change, just put into coded wording(either that, or he hopes that the worst-case scenarios come true, but the TPTB still survive just fine!).

Especially in the context of a world that has warmed on average by 10 to 15 degrees F, with the northern Arctic region averaging a warming of 20 to 30 F, and disrupted atmospheric Rossby waves leading to a crippled NH food production system.

Adapt? How? The only way you can postulate adaptation is to deny that such a scenario is possible, and that its probability is rising with every scientific report. Which, I think, is precisely what you do.

We are broiling here in Iowa. You can barely step outside without feeling sick.

Some schools let out early and outside school sports were cancelled.

The weather forecast predicts 100+ temperatures for the next seven days, and no rain. We had
an extremely wet spring and early summer. We were almost at flood conditions. Then, the rain
stopped. I think we've had rain twice in the last six weeks. We're heading into drought conditions,
similar to the horrible conditions we had last year. Crops (soybeans and corn) are starting to
wither and turn brown.

It's total extremes here. This spring, I was sure we would see flooding again.

The weather is bipolar. Getting through this week is going to be tough for many who don't have
air conditioning.

They're predicting heat indexes of 105-110 degrees this week.
