Sarah Palin: ‘Duck Dynasty’ is what Americans ‘desire and deserve’ in politics

La Palin finishes her long slide into political irrelevancy.

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin loves the "Duck Dynasty" fever sweeping America, suggesting that Republicans turn to the famous family to find their way through the political wilderness.

t’s time our politicians wake up and hear some Duck calls from far outside the beltway,” she explained on Facebook, praising the show’s record ratings on cable. “The self-made, hugely successful businessmen (and women) of Duck Dynasty made history this week with the ‘most watched non-fiction series’ in TV history.”

Palin also praised a video of the star of the A&E television show Phil Robertson delivering a speech against abortion rights that has gone viral on the internet.

“To our GOP leaders in Washington, especially — this is what Americans desire and deserve; we’re not rooting for your social truces. As Phil so rightly asks, ‘What in the world has happened to us?’” she added.

I just started watching it last season, but I have quickly caught up, and now look forward to it every week.
I, in no way, find it political. It is just a good, wholesome (yes somewhat staged), happy show. I find myself laughing out loud as I watch it, and that has not happened in a long time.
I enjoy seeing families that enjoy each other, and if they Thank God for that, so what. To each his own.

I have not seen one show where they were pushing anything to do with politics. They joke and laugh with each other.

I actually don't do the myspace, facebook or twitter kind of things, so I have no idea what goes on there. IF it is as you say and IF they were to bring it onto the show, I would probably get bored and no longer watch.
And I shouldn't like the show because 'conservative' like them? What is this, the 4th grade?

Duck Dynasty's season premier was the most watched television show of the week. It is the highest watched television show (Un or semiscrpited) there has ever been.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2013/08/21/nielsen-weekly-tv-ratings-highlights/2676675/

Wednesday they had the second episode, and it came in at ten million.

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/08/22/wednesday-cable-ratings-duck-dynasty-dominates-modern-dads-deal-with-it-here-comes-honey-boo-boo-more/198805/

Snort and laugh if you want, but the show is very popular, and here be the kicker, people are talking about it. I heard about it in town, and now there are Duck Dynasty stuff for sale at the local Grocery Store and Pharmacy. Hats and T-Shirts are getting seen more and more.

Those ratings by the way don't include iTunes or Amazon purchases. Which is pretty high too. It's sixth on iTunes. It's 12 on Amazon's instant video.

Look at the list, reruns are making the top ten for the night. Reruns are making the list in prime time.

Before you roll on the floor laughing my friend, you might want to take a second look, because I don't see where this is all that bad for the RW. Because there is no way A&E is going to cancel the most popular show on TV, and it's only going to become more popular as time goes by.

27. High ratings mean popularity

Aug 2013

Popularity is how we judge things as a society. We are concerned because President Obama's approval rating, his popularity, is at 41%. This means that he is weakened politically, and will have an even more difficult time selling agenda issues to the public, and to Congress.

On the other hand, when his popularity, his approval rating is high, he has a better chance of getting those issues through Congress, because people are behind him.

http://www.google.com/gwt/x?u=http://www.today.com/entertainment/duck-nation-has-spoken-duck-dynasty-poised-be-biggest-cable-6C10963174&ei=SsUVUtKaPJ7uwAKlv4CYBQ&wsc=bf

“Si-isms” without knowing what he was talking about. Then fate took over when she had to fly home to Indiana because her mother was in the hospital.

“I was waiting to board my flight and when they called for first class, the most rugged, raggedy, redneck looking man I’ve ever seen walked past me,” said Taylor, 39, who owns her own business and will complete her MBA next month. “He was scruffy and in hunter clothes. I remember thinking, ‘Who is this guy and how can he afford to fly?’ It was a really closed-minded thought process, I will admit that…When I got on board, he was in the very first seat and a flight attendant was taking a picture with him. I nudged the guy next to me and he said, ‘That’s Uncle Si Robertson!”

SNIP....

“It would be understandable that he would like something like this—it’s right up his alley,” she said. “But it’s amazing to see the cross-section of people who loves this show because I think it reaches to the very core of humanity. The Robertsons are not doing crazy, crazy stuff. Even though they can be crazy and funny, they are extremely hard-working and they worked their tail off to get to where they are now. No matter what differences they have, they still love each other and still try to teach respect and appreciation for family and overall morals of what it is to be a good person and contribute to society.”

Even the youngest Americans are in on the duck craze. About 4.9 million viewers are 34 and younger. Sisters Taylor Tracy, 15, and Jordan Tracy, 19, who live in Clayton, N.C., tune in every week because they appreciate the Roberston’s “Christian and clean values.”

“They’re really funny and down-to-earth,” said Jordan, a college student. “You can tell they’re not materialistic.”

It is a fatal mistake to underestimate your opponent. I'd council against that in every case.
