2 months ago, when Greenwald first started publishing the Snowden files, his home was broken into and his partner's computer was stolen. "Someone" thought his partner might have a copy of the files.

"To detain my partner for a full nine hours while denying him a lawyer, and then seize large amounts of his possessions, is clearly intended to send a message of intimidation to those of us who have been reporting on the NSA and GCHQ. The actions of the UK pose a serious threat to journalists everywhere.

"But the last thing it will do is intimidate or deter us in any way from doing our job as journalists. Quite the contrary: it will only embolden us more to continue to report aggressively."

NSA Journalist Glenn Greenwald’s Partner Reportedly Detained at Airport for 9 Hours, Questioned Under Terrorism Act

Authorities in London on Sunday reportedly detained and questioned for nine hours the gay partner of Glenn Greenwald, the journalist who has authored a series of recent articles exposing mass surveillance programs by the National Surveillance Agency (NSA).

The Guardian, Greenwald’s employer, reports the journalist’s partner, David Miranda, was held for nearly nine hours and questioned under the Terrorism Act at the UK’s Heathrow airport. Officials also confiscated Miranda’s electronics, including his cell phone, laptop, camera, and memory sticks, according to The Guardian, without saying when they would return the items.

According to the report, Miranda was stopped by UK airport officials at 8:30 AM and told he would be detained for questioning under schedule seven of the Terrorism Act of 2000. The law, reportedly allows officers to search and detain individuals at key transportation areas.

Miranda was reportedly released without being officially charged with anything. Authorities had detained him for the maximum amount of time allowed under the law before they would have had to issue a formal arrest, according to The Guardian.

... getting to Greenwald in Brazil. Probably watching every one of his colleagues going in and out of Brazil and doing stunts like this.

If they thought all information was already in his hands or if it wasn't "dangerous", I wonder why they would be playing this hand. If they were sure that he was going to do something like sell it to Al Queda to do real damage to the U.S., why not send in some CIA hit guys and take him in to custody if they know what's on the line. Since they don't have an operation like that happening, it tells me that what they are going after isn't very defensible to the American public.

I think we're still due for some more breaking news down the line of some REAL and unforgivable criminal activity by these guys that will open up their blackmail bins on all of the congressmen when they feel torn between going after these bastards either in congress or through the courts at the behest of a voting populace with almost revolutionary emotions then, and being exposed by this blackmail. I think it is likely to get more ugly before it gets better.
