Obama to Congress on Iran: Either Formally Declare War, or Sit Down and Shut Up

Okay not really, but this is what he should be telling Congress. That there will be no hostilities against Iran without a formal declaration of war by Congress, as is required by the Constitution. No more "resolution for the authorizations for the use of force." Make people like Lindsay Graham and Joe Liebermann put their money where their mouth is.

going to do. I hate war but for once I think that John McCain may be right about getting weapons to the resistance. I don't know but it goes against my nature to set back and watch unarmed people being killed in the streets when they are trying to fight a bigger power.

Ironic - I have been preaching non-intervention since the 60s.

Edited to say I thought the OP was referring to Syria.

If Paul were Prez, he would end international police actions. However, he's all for fighting when war is declared. So, would there be troops in Iran? OF COURSE! Congress would declare war in no time!

5. You do realize that virtually no nation has declared war on another since World War II

There's probably a few anecdotal exceptions, but despite the popular misconception this is far from a uniquely American phenomenon. It's also silly, IMO. Why is war any better or worse if Congress officially declares it, instead of merely authorizing it.
