Mitt Romney campaign: We had 'nothing to do with' picking Ford Field

Mitt Romney campaign: We had 'nothing to do with' picking Ford Field

by Jed Lewison

Hahaha:

#Romney official: "The campaign had nothing to do with" decision to hold event at nearly empty Ford Field. (1/2)
— @PeterAlexander via web

It wasn't our fault! Hell, we didn't even put the event on Mitt's schedule. He just showed up. (Perhaps muttering something about trees and domestics and Cadillacs?)

But it gets better hahahahahahahaha:

Detroit Econ Club originally planned to hold speech in stadium's atrium, but moved to field citing "security concerns." (2/2)
— @PeterAlexander via web

Yeah, they were so worried about security that they decided to move the event from an enclosed, controlled space ... to the middle of a 65,000 seat empty stadium. And Mitt Romney's campaign had no influence over the matter at all. M'kay.

...The Detroit Economic Club doesn't accept the Romney campaign's claim, saying Romneyland "approved" and "concurred" on the Ford Field venue. Real classy of Romneyland to blame the hosts when obviously they could have easily declined the invite, isn't it?

...Now they are saying the Secret Service forced them to hold the event on the field:

If he wants to hold an intimate town hall meeting, the Secret Service forces him to use the local college or pro field?

It probably doesn't go for cheap and cost doesn't even seem to be an afterthought for the Romney campaign.
