(34,582 posts)and will never go back to Windows. I have enough grief at work . And I love my iPad. However, I just bought my first smart phone, a Samsung Galaxy S4- it kicks iPhone butt.

(149,681 posts)And I didn't want to have a touchscreen...
So that's why I went with Win 7.
It's all about knowing what you want, and knowing how to get it!

(16,191 posts)I despised Win8 until I got to use it on a touchscreen device. Now I simply despise it on non-touchscreen devices.
Win8 is easily the best OS available for touch devices right now, and makes iOS and Android look like playtoys in comparison. It's easy to use, lightning fast, and the navigational changes are easy to understand and make total sense when you're using a finger. The problem is that 99.8% of computer users are trying to use Win8 with a mouse, and the idea of using the touch gestures with a mouse was idiotic. It's hard to master and makes little sense. It's unbelievable that manufacturers are STILL selling it for mouse driven computers, knowing how unuseable it is.

(45,358 posts)The desktop functions exactly the same as 7, only faster and better.

(39,961 posts)I hate Windows 8. I had to get classic shell just to make it bearable (it adds a start button). I personally think 8 is the worst MS OS ever.

(3,109 posts)you change to an alternative shell, like Classic Shell. I tried using it out of the box, what a time waster.

From strictly a user's standpoint, I liked XP better than Windows 7.
I also prefer Mac OS to any Windows system however.

Different strokes and all that!

(65,483 posts)was likely to involve a significant learning curve, I decided I might as well go ahead with the Mac, since avoiding having to learn a different way of doing familiar tasks was what was keeping me away from Apple.
Also, both of my kids and their spouses use Apple, and it is very convenient to use Apple's Facetime to make video calls between Apple computers and iPhones. I don't (and won't) have an iPhone, but they both do, as well as having MacPro laptops.

(19,483 posts)When I tried to paste the link to that image onto my FB page, I got this message:
The privacy settings for this attachment prevent you from posting it to this Timeline.
I've seen that before, when I've tried to paste a link to an image. With cartoons, I usually have to find the page the cartoon is on and paste the link to that page.
