A co-worker just received notice that the county DA is watching her delinquent 4 y.o.

He's been missing too much preschool (which isn't mandatory). In the kids defense, he has been battling with numerous health problems, and is still struggling to walk. But I guess it's good to make sure the preschooler mends his truant ways.

Here's an article about a couple who spent a night in jail for their teenager's truancy:

7. It has everything to do with the truancy law that does and has resulted in jail time for parents.

The kid is on the DA's radar now because it's a public preschool. Preschool isn't mandatory, but this is a wake-up call for the parents that next year this sickly behavior could result in some quiet time in the pokey for the parents.

Went thru some silly shenanigans like getting called in to face an accusation that my son was making bombs in my garage.
Turns out he was talking about a video game. The principle got a good chuckle when I said I'd be tickled to death if he was in my garage, it would mean he had left his bedroom!
It was a strange and scary moment though, realizing as I heard the accusations against my son how serious this could possibly be.....

12. If the kid is disabled, seems the parents would be careful about his health.

Reporting it to the DA seems a bit much. But then I don't know the whole story and just because you have a disabled child doesn't mean that everything is peachy. Good luck to the kid.

#1. the first and most obvious point is that if preschool is not mandatory the DA has no legal standing. what state is this in. I highly doubt that the mandatory school age in the state is 4. if you tell me what state i will be able to help. I am in alabama and our school tried 3 or 4 times to get us for truancy and they never could. I went to an attorney just to be safe and he asked me "why do you need an attorney"? one month later he had another truancy case and called me to his office. he said he needed advice on how to handle the case. all i need to know is the state, and the school system, whether it is county or city.

anything. She nor her husband will get jail time for this, but it's good to know that the DA is watching over this. It's not as if there isn't any CRIME going on. *rolling eyes*
