Drudge at it again: whipping up anti-Obama frenzy with sensational story about $6 gas in Florida

Drudge headline screams $6 GAS. The headline of the story it links to isn't much better: Florida Drivers Shelling Out Nearly $6 A Gallon At Some Gas Stations

http://tampa.cbslocal.com/2012/02/22/florida-drivers-shelling-out-nearly-6-a-gallon-at-some-gas-stations/

To simply see those headlines, one would think that $6 gas is rampant in Florida.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The story cites 3 individual gas stations who have prices at or near the $6/gallon mark. These gas stations (2 located near Orlando International Airport, and 1 near Disney) have been gouging visitors for years. Those of us who live in the area have been aware of these particular stations for quite some time, and we avoid them like the plague.

Yet it doesn't stop the anti-Obama sycophants from piling on their racist, bigoted comments. It's all part of Obama's secret plot to destroy America and hand us over to the Muslims. That's what we get for electing a black president. And it goes on and on.

But I'm sure that's exactly the reaction that Drudge and the author of this story were going for.

They already know they've lost 2012. Why do they spend political capital so needlessly? Is it really as simple as stupidity?
