Alternative Minimum Tax for Corporations

I fully support the idea (assuming the CBO numbers work out) and I hope others here will also.

The finished product is not what I have been suggesting but it is along the same lines. I don't like that it is only multi-national corporations that are targeted for this but maybe it can be expanded later.

4. I still think we should offer a cut in the top rate in exchange for an AMT for Corporations

I would suggest the Alternative Minimum Tax for Corporations be 1% on net revenue.

This would stop Corporations from paying nothing. It can also be defended by saying that any Corporation paying a reasonable amount would not be affected by this change. We can also throw their words back at them about how high the taxes are by pointing out that if they are so high then this 1% won't matter.

1. I am for an alternative minimum tax for corporations, based on gross revenue

I would suggest ~1%, but I am open minded as to what the exact rate should be

17. I would suggest an Alternative Minimum Tax for Corporations based on income

instead of them paying only on profits

This would apply only to corporations not paying a reasonable amount of taxes on their profits. Even 1% of gross would be something.

What do you think, is someone out there actually listening to what we at DU have to say?

I agree 100%. And we should always use those words: "minimum tax". Same for Laura PourMeADrink Feb 2012 #1

income tax for the wealthy. Democrats don't call it what it is, an AMT. Why use the words "raise taxes" on the rich. We are not raising taxes, we are just trying to make people pay what they should.
