I just refused to make a payment on line using PayPal

Called the company up to see if there was another option and explained I would not use the system that supports Sanatorum. I was told a lot of people have expressed this opinion recently.

but at least one of the founders - Thiel - donated $2.6M to Paul

Paypal is owned by eBay now (the sale was a few years ago if I remember correctly - I do some buying/selling on eBay and use paypal exclusively). I've not had any trouble with Paypal but others have so it's one of those "buyer beware" things.

Personal grudge...I bought something on ebay, paid with paypal, and they charged me 10 times. I called the seller, he only got paid once. It took me almost a month to straighten it out. Since then I have refused to use them. If I can't use a bank card, then I don't buy.

He's just as dangerous a nutter as Santorum. Besides, that is PayPal's co-founder. PayPal is owned by eBay now. I don't know who they contribute to, but I bet it's horrible.

I don't understand why DU wants to force everybody to pay through PayPal, enriching a corporation I'm sure works against our views. I personally won't do it: even if it is just to run a credit card through them, without a PayPal account.

You can send a check or cash. We could contribute somehow through Act Blue; there are options.

There should be as many avenues as possible. I was advocating for paypal as an option, both for DU and for general market purposes both buying and selling and moving money for many reasons. I assume that allowing paper checks and so forth increases the cost of doing business for a non-profit, though.

I support the availability of paypal for the simple reason that many people do not want to be part of the bankster system. Yes, paypal has its own faults. But it allows many people an option.

I just opened an account with them. They are similar to PayPal although they don't process credit card payments.

I'm thinking about opening a business on the net and was wondering about PayPal. But your comment about PP holding your payments gave me pause.

I'm not anywhere near that stage of my plans yet (it's a kind of "second income"-type of thing), but would appreciate any information now to avoid the problems you endured...

Thanks!

But there's a lot of horror stories out there where Paypal decides to keep a seller's money. Usually someone claims fraud to get charges reversed, and paypal just takes all the cash in the account.

Before using paypal, I recommend checking with a local bank or credit union and see what they can offer for taking credit card payments.

They "flagged" my account because I had used PayPal at one time to sell some stuff then stopped for awhile and then started up again and shortly thereafter their "system" inexplicably flagged my account and despite several frustrating calls to PayPal staff, they were unable to do anything to resolve the issue and basically told me that I had to conduct several more successful transactions via PayPal (i.e. sell more stuff on eBay) in order for them to stop flagging my account. It sounds more or less they have computers and their "system" running the show over there because I kept getting the same canned replies and answers to all of my questions when I've called. There are apparently a lot of horror stories out there about PayPal doing this to a lot of people, so it seems like I'm not experiencing anything particularly unique. Actually, compared with some stories out there online, mine has hardly been the worse but it still aggravates me that I have to wait 20-30 days to get the money I earn from selling on eBay for no particularly good reason.
