What's so crucial in the MidEast TODAY that gas prices would jump drastically again?

Seriously, I have been combing the webs all morning trying to figure out who bombed whom or what else could have gone whack.

It was $3.89 a week ago, jumped to $4.09 for the holiday weekend, and today it's jumping another 20 cents!

Do current events REALLY have that effect on our pump prices in rural areas? I can understand the greed of wanting to take advantage of a fuel scare, but it doesn't seem to be anything really happening that would cause that kind of shock or mayhem. So basically everyone here just decided to collectively jump their prices today?

When they say that prices will hit $4.25 by summer, we are already THERE. and if it gets any closer to $5 a gallon again, i will no longer be conducting work anywhere but FROM HOME... christ, times like this i wish I could get a HORSE!!!

Syria problems. Iran cutting off oil to the EU, although that is very insignificant.

The US is currently EXPORTING gas because local consumption has decreased.

Why can the export not stop, and the prices remain the same?

Obama to talk about it Thursday.

The US is currently EXPORTING gas because local consumption has decreased. And local consumption has decreased because the price of a gallon of gas has increased.

President.

They're afraid Democrats would be more likely to promote alternative energy sources.

I expect the price of gas to shoot up dramatically up until November.

Thanks for the thread, Firstlight.

fer instance, Ca. gas prices are always much higher than here in Ala.

I only have to get gas about every 3 months, so do not know the current prices here, but it IS under 4.00 gal.

High Sierra Nevada...they charge us for the gas to drive the trucks up the mountain, it's like that for everything up here i suppose.

but still, did everyone get hit today in some way or is it just regional i wonder?

and yes, i agree the freaking specualtion is to blame...just like why cheese and bread and cereal has gone thru the roof recently. I swear, the difference between $2 and $4 for a loaf of BREAD? gah!

seriously, days like this is just want to pull the plug on all of it... pray for the fucking solar flares to wipe out the grid and level the playing field! (not like id have a snowball's chance, but ya, some days you just WANT to watch it all burn...bastards)

We are still around 3.89, I think, for regular, so I guess premium might be pushing 4.00/
Like you, I live in an isolated place, thus prices are higher here.
