WEST YARMOUTH — A foreclosure auction Tuesday morning attracted more than just potential bidders. Before auctioneers began selling off the home at 5 Alijo Drive in West Yarmouth, a group of Occupy Cape Cod protesters rallied against proceedings on the property.

It was the first of several planned foreclosure auction protests for the loose-knit group.

"We were loud and boisterous and things couldn't have gone better," said protester John Hopkins, 63, of Truro.

Protesters held signs and railed in general against foreclosures caused by the financial crisis of 2008. Some even got into the faces of the auctioneers from Daniel P. McLaughlin & Co. LLC.

no one bids above a dollar and the winner gives the home back to the former owner.
