Let's say that you're a Christian, and you believe that God created the Earth...

Wouldn't it stand to reason that you should treat God's creation with the utmost respect? After all, it would seem almost sacrilegious to take something that God created, then turn around and shit all over it, pump all kinds of toxic pollutants into the ground, air, and water, and then oppose any efforts to clean it up.

Its nuts, but that's their story.

Some of the worst of them (who for one reason or other all seem to live in the US) believe that destroying the earth while waiting for the big guy to get to it is somehow good and hurries things along.

Wed Feb 22, 2012, 12:36 AM

oh wait it is.

"You shall not pollute the land in which you live.... You shall not defile the land in which you live, in which I also dwell; for I the LORD dwell among the Israelites." (Numbers 35:33-34)

"You must keep my decrees and my laws.... And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you." (Leviticus 18:26, 28)

According to the Bible God made the Earth it is his and he likes it. So you better take care of it or else.

"To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it." (Deuteronomy 10:14)

"The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; with me you are but aliens and tenants. Throughout the land that you hold, you shall provide for the redemption of the land." (Leviticus 25:23-24)

There are people who believe(God has)/(there is) a better place "after Earth" so do as you like: plunder and perhaps squander the planet.

If here and now is all there is, it would make sense not to drive ourselves into oblivion. I think this could apply regardless of any god(s) there may or may not be. What if we're an experiment in a cosmic laboratory, with God assessing the following: "Hmmm... This trial resulted in those life forms over there shitting on their planet. Oh well. You win some, you lose some"?

I've posted that before, but it is really the way the GOP reads Genesis.

Oh, and Leviticus consists of one sentence - "To be gay would be an abomination, even unto GOD."

Their excuse is something about God giving the Earth to man for his use, blah, blah, blah, but when did God say they could mess it up so much? They don't have an answer. The real answer is money.

I think they believe that since they go to heaven/paradise they have less reason to care what happens after they are gone. They also believe themselves disconnected from nature and the circle of life, above the other creatures.
