There is no government on this planet who could force me to

have a trans-vaginal probe. I'd opt for self defense against rape and
I'd kill the attackers. They are lucky I am not in their age range because they wouldn't get that close.

This is madness

It was part of a battery of tests done for cancer screening. One of her older sisters died about 20 years ago from ovarian cancer.

Perhaps the person who posted the OP could clarify what issue he or she is addressing. A trans-vaginal probe is just a medical procedure as far as I know.

-a forced vaginal-probe for anyone who wants an abortion.
Watch Rachel Maddow in a few minutes - it's a major issue and women are reacting to this madness.

Sorry about your loss.

I still haven't looked up exactly what it consists of, but I have no doubt that it's traumatic.

My understanding of this is some insertion of an object.

If I was a woman, i'd be uncomfortable with this.

And MSNBC showed a map of states that already are pursuing this or have the law on the books.

Every single state that touches the Gulf of Mexico is on board. I hope southern women can rise up and end this.

...which I had never heard of in all of my 54 years as an avid reader. So I Googled it and ended up on this thread.

It's always refreshing to see such a high level of compassion on DU.

ETA I looked it up - It's a form of ultrasound exam that involves inserting a transducer into the vagina.

I was familiar with the now possibly defunct Virginia bill to require an ultrasound exam prior to getting an abortion. I didn't make the connection with the term trans-vaginal because it wasn't in any of the information I'd read about the bill. Nor did the paperwork I was sorting make any reference to ultrasound.

Isn't the right-wing against "socialized medicine"? Isn't that essentially what we're getting by them making all these new laws about how they need to do their jobs?

The fundamental truth of the matter is that the right really DOES believe in "big government" as much as they accuse the left of being (projecting again, no surprise there), it's just they want "big government" doing things that THEY want it to do. As long as government is keeping gays from getting married and trying to regulate people's reproductive lives (among other things), they're perfectly fine with "big government."

It is the doctor (or more likely his ultrasound tech) who will have to do this. They are thus victims of this travesty as well.

Though my guess is that word will quickly get around about that, which could cause problems depending on the wording of the bill.
