President Obama is well-suited and motivated for VRA fight; Irony not lost on him, I'll bet
. . . how his very elevation to the presidency has motivated detractors, opponents, racists to scramble to restrict minority participation in elections.
Occurring amidst the flurry of new and accelerating red-state restrictions on voting rights, this grouping of politicians and activists is both historic and profound.

Obama meeting with civil rights leaders to discuss VRA: http://bit.ly/16eMuMj
President Barack Obama is scheduled to meet Monday with civil rights leaders as well as state and local officials to discuss efforts to strengthen the Voting Rights Act in the wake of the Supreme Court's controversial decision last month to gut the seminal 1965 civil rights law.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at 2:45 p.m. ET, with Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of Labor Tom Perez slated to attend the meeting as well.
Obama reacted with disappointment to the Supreme Court's decision on the Voting Rights Act, and Holder promised "swift enforcement action" against any efforts to take advantage of the ruling. Republican lawmakers, however, have indicated that it's unlikely that Congress will take steps to fix the law.
