a while back I started seeing a sad trend here on du
regional bashing and really just ugly assumptions being made about people due to where they were from
not for what they said or did but because they had the effrontery to live somewhere that they like
I live in florida again and I like many Floridians have a love/hate relationship with my beautiful and beloved whore of a home
its not for everyone
we in some of these places that are so easy to lob rocks at have the double pleasure of working our lives to make change and also having the uninvolved tell us how we aren't working hard enough
so I got in my tiny mind that maybe some small way to bring some small measure of respect to all of our homes was to take a quick look at each state and open a thread where you can tell why you love or hate your state
in these previous threads the residents of the states covered did not let me down
they posted pics of favorite places and related stories that explained local customs and traditions
they told of events they felt were reflective of their view of their home
i sadly let these duers down
my circumstances demanded i move to the very far reaches of America and i had unreliable internet access
and i lost my head of steam got right through to the O's
now here i am again on du and i am reading posts that say
to me
where i live is more important than any other aspect in determining my worth
and
because i live in florida in the south and i LIKE florida
my home for 90% of my life
i somehow have less credibility than those who live elsewhere
so i will be picking up with ohio
i invite everyone who has ohio related information to please share
here is a link back to each thread from my journal
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=journals&uid=216569
i also post in each states forum an invitation so if you are from a pre O state there is a link in your states forum
lets have fun
