Fox News Host Attacks Muslim Scholar for Jesus Book; is handed her ass

Aslan appeared on the online show on Friday to promote his new book, Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth, about how the environment Jesus grew up in shaped him. But host Lauren Green didn't want to talk about the book so much as she wanted to talk about how Aslan is a Muslim. "You’re a Muslim, so why did you write a book about the founder of Christianity?" was Green's very first question. "Well, to be clear, I am a scholar of religions with four degrees, including one in the New Testament, and fluency in biblical Greek, who has been studying the origins of Christianity for two decades, who also just happens to be a Muslim," Aslan politely replied. Green doesn't give up, though, the interview goes downhill from there:

Fox News is not a credible news outlet - why would anyone expect Fox News anchors to be knowledgeable? They are rightwing hacks who peddle propaganda for a living.

she asks why a muslim would write a book about Jesus. he explains he is a scholar and that is what they do, research and write books about subjects in their field. and then she is like "but seriously, why would a muslim write a book about Jesus."

"Are ye Chinese or Japanese?"

"I'm Korean"

"... So are ye Chinese or Japanese?"

With news programs like this, no wonder the world thinks Americans are idiots.

therefore, you can't study a religion you don't believe in.

You can't try to understand a political idea you don't agree with.

You can't understand a sexual orientation you don't share.

You can't understand someone from a different country, race, or even subculture substantially different from your own.

To study or try to understand is to become infected by those ideas.

What is different, foreign, or not instantly comprehensible must be destroyed.

If it has a pulse, it should be shot since the Federal government have made lynching and burning impractical.

She didn't listen to a word he said. My IQ just dropped a few points after that one.

Prof answering first question - 'I am a professor/historian/expert and this is a historical piece on Jesus. My faith has nothing to do with the book.'

Interviewer: 'So, as a Muslim, why did you write this book about Jesus?'

How many so-called Christians write books about Islam? Or anything else for that matter? I have to wonder who prepares these questions.

It took me several pages to even start getting to the RW "one star" reviews, so many others had chimed in -- people who actually had read the book, people who actually had a clue about what a scholar in religious studies with a PhD does, and people who had seen that wretched interview on FOX and were going to buy the book in solidarity.
