“Darrell Issa's Got a Plan to Put the Postal Service in a Death Spiral"

“Congressman Darrell Issa really is determined to end the United States Postal Service as Americans know it—indeed, as Americans have known it for more than 200 years.”

“Issa, the powerful chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has a long history of attacking the postal service. But, now, he has taken advantage of a manufactured crisis to get his committee to vote twenty-two to seven in favor of a “Postal Reform Act of 2013” that American Postal Workers Union president Cliff Guffey warns “will lead to the demise of the Postal Service.”’

UPS is unionized and FEDEX uses "contractors." Then FEDEX will have low rates for big businesses and high rates for everyone else.

Goes to the post office, just why does he think it needs his oversight. Boehner needs to reign in his idiots before he makes his next speech.

I would say that attacking the postal service is unconstitutional. But what do I know?

from Chairman to a third-rate Congressman with no stroke as the 2014 election decimates the Republicans and Democrats retake the House thanks to continuing scandals of stupid Republicans.

The Post Office's unionized workers are paid too much, and get many benefits such as pensions, sick days and bathroom breaks.

We are living in a world economy now, where we must compete with people paid less than subsistence wages. We must be competitive.

That is why we should support whatever compromise the Democrats are sure to make. Our elected Democrats are smart and pragmatic (other than that difficult woman from Massachusetts), I trust them to compromise in a way that help's America become competitive again.

gotta do as much as we can to eliminate a living wage...quality of life....health care... and potential retirement benefits.... plus, workers should be happy, just to have a job rather than challenge management....

we should be ecstatic with Bill Clinton's "visions" for America? Our federal postal system has to compete with Chinese postal workers??? Heh - I can just see my dad reckoning with the realization that since auto paints could be sourced much more cheaply from overseas, he should take a cut in pay with a big, heartfelt smile.

The problem is that the Post Office's workers are paid.

That is the problem the corporate masters have with all employees. When they finally enact their dream, we will pay to work.

I don't understand Issa's knife in this fight. Does he own shares of FedEx? He is a bully. I do not understand how one person can have the power to destroy so much.

"something to understand" Issa's a Republican - rationale and understanding do NOT factor in. GREED is the common denominator.
