San Diego Mayor Bob Filner Should Resign, Sen. Feinstein Says

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California on Sunday joined a growing list of Democrats calling on San Diego Mayor Bob Filner to resign due to allegations that he has sexually harassed women, intensifying the pressure on him to step down.

"I don't think that somebody who is lacking a moral compass really sets a role model or really will provide the kind of leadership that San Diegans want,'' Feinstein, a former mayor of San Francisco, said on CNN's "State of the Union."

"I suspect there will be recalls, and the people will judge,’’ she said. "I think he should make it easier and resign."

Filner, a Democrat, has rejected calls to resign. H said Friday that he was entering therapy for two weeks to learn how to behave better.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, last week called on the 70-year-old Filner to step down, as have a number of San Diego-area Democratic officials, including Reps. Scott Peters and Susan Davis.

Filner is just this side of a rapist if the stories are accurate, and it is beyond hard to believe they aren't. I don't care if he makes Bernie Sanders look like Phil Grahm he needs to go.

3. What stories specifically have you heard?

There was an odd one about a headlock. That was odd.

Then there was the story from years ago in which someone said that his campaign manager of some sort was "working her butt off for him." Reportedly, and it's probably true, he asked his campaign manager to turn around, gave her a pat on the butt, and said "Nope. It's still there."

Then there was the story, also from a few years ago, in which someone who was neither an employee nor campaign worker met him at a resturant where he made a pass at her. She said that he tried to kiss her.

The headlock story, if true, seems to be indefensible. How strange.

But can the pat on the butt and the attempted kiss or kisses be considered "just this side of" rape?

Or do you have some other stories about him? Whether these stories are true or not, or even "just this side of" rape, we know that these stories were not brought out until he publicly criticized the Bank of America.

If you do have something worse, I'ld like to hear it.

5. the headlock is apparently a repeated thing

from what I can tell, as more than one woman gave a name to it. And yes, I think, that combined with the sexual touching is periously close to rape. I have no earthly idea why those women didn't come forward sooner, frankly before the mayoral race would have been nice, but if he did this behavior I don't particularly care when it was or why they came forward, he needs to go.

6. You say, from what you've read, "the headlock is apparently a repeated thing." I have not read that

Maybe it's true. And maybe it isn't.

What I do know is that there seems to be a coordinated MSM attack to get him removed. What I also know is that there doesn't seem to be sufficient evidence. Wouldn't you agree that a pat on the butt of someone who is not a governmental employee is not a rape nor a near rape? Wouldn't you agree that men, or some men, make passes at women? Most men who receive a rejection move on, as did Filner. There is nothing to indicate that involved a rape or near rape.

The reported headlock or headlocks is truly bizzare.

Nonetheless, I like to have evidence and trials before hangings.

9. How about you and Filner limping into the late 20th century?

Don't worry about making it to the 21st century, we don't expect the impossible......

10. As I've said to you before, IMO "people with emotional problems should not own or possess firearms."

As I also mentioned to you,
"Name calling is ugly (and childish). Making false accusatory statements is ugly. Threads are not ugly.

"If you feel excessively emotional about an April 2013 thread, in which posters exchanged their views (and you - Paladin - let it be known that you are a firearm owner), take up Yoga, give up caffeine, and/or consider getting some help.

"Threads are not ugly, and a specific thread in which a question was asked - "While there is a push to ban assault rifles, why not ban sniper rifles?" - is not ugly.

You call yourself Paladin. The real Paladin - or the real TV character named Paladin who played a fictional gun fighter - would not do what you are doing either in the TV series or on this site.

If you need help, get help.

7. One more thought. If the "headlock is apparently a repeated thing," why did they have to

come up with the pat-on-the butt woman and the he-made-a-pass-at-me woman?

The more that I think about this, the more that I think that the voters of San Diego should decide rather than the MSM.

If we could determine on a national level which politicians to get rid of, the one at the top of my list would be Dianne Feinstein.

Let the San Diego voters decide.

Apparently recalls are hard to mount in San Diego, and while this one was being mounted, he would still get to be mayor despite his horrible attitude and actions toward women. If he owned slaves I doubt you would be saying let the voters decide. If he shot up Hispanic people's houses because he hated Mexicans, I doubt you would say let the voters decide. I don't think the voters should get to decide here either. Frankly I think the slaps on the bottom, presuming them to be unwanted, were sexual assaults in and of themselves.

4. He does need to go

His going to therapy is a joke. What makes it even worse is that he was a progressive (well other than his obvious sexual misconduct) elected in a largely conservative district.

I do wish I could better understand what possesses an allegedly grown man to suggest that a woman should come to work without her underwear. I just can't get my head around what pleasure they derive from it.
