Question: how do people feel about preCheck?

This weekend I flew from New York to Buffalo for a wedding. Because I'm enrolled in preCheck, I got to walk to the front of the line and go through a special lane where I didn't have to remove my shoes or belt, or take out my computer or toiletries kit. The catch is that I've gone through a DHS background check which determined that I'm a low security risk. Given people's concerns about the NSA, how many other people are willing to reveal their profile to get expedited airport screening?

1. I considered doing it but I mostly fly internationally, where it is no help

...lets you speed through Immigration and Customs when returning, and clears you for preCheck as well.

I'll look into it; I'll be back and forth between the US and India a lot in the next few years, sometimes on the normal passport where that could help.

2. I didn't have to do a DHS background check, and I've been enrolled in TSA pre-check for sometime

Due to my frequent flyer status...

It is only rolled out at 40 or so airports, so I wouldn't pay to get enrolled for it..I hear they are trying to expand the rollout though

If little old ladies and shuffling old men have to go through the check, then so should everyone else.

No exceptions.

No special status for anyone ... we are all the same, equal before the laws and regulations of this country, no matter how stupid some of those rules may be.

but stopped when they wanted my fingerprints. Nowadays there are all kinds of excuses for fingerprint collection and I refuse to help them build their database.

9. What is the criteria for being classified a low security risk by a DHS background check?

I'm sure DHS already has everything there is to know about me in my file.

However not all airlines participate with PreCheck and knowing that helps when you're flying airlines like Southwest, who don't participate then you go through standard security.

Global Entry is a godsend for speeding thought Immigation & Passport Control especially after returning on a 9-12 hour flight and you just can't bear being 'cattle-car'd' into a long line to wait.

Because I already have a security clearance it was a breeze getting both Global Entry & PreCheck.
