The guy just thought he'd help out. With bullets. Also:

One would-be hero brought his gun with him to the movies on the one-year anniversary of the Aurora movie theater shooting, but accidentally fired it during the show, thereby demonstrating how quick and easy it is to go from "I'll save everyone in case there's a shooter in the theater" to "Oh my God, I'm the shooter in the theater. (But I love the Constitution so much that it really shouldn't count.)"

Meanwhile, another would-be hero found himself in trouble in Milwaukee County, for firing at a suspect the police were pursuing through his neighborhood. He wasn't trying to break into our hero's property or anything. The guy just thought he'd help out. With bullets.

This week's compilation also includes two "home invasion" shootings, plus the additional invasion of a neighbor's above-ground swimming pool, and a residential fence. And speaking of homes and invasions, there was yet another case of the mistaken identification of a family member as an intruder this week, resulting in a man shooting his daughter in the eye.

The child victims of GunFAIL this week are ages 3, 4, 6, 6, 8, 9, 9, 15 and 17, and includes yet another case of a pre-school-aged boy shooting his sister, in case you thought that was terribly rare...

general theme of the Gungeon, and that resistance to the proliferation of gunz in this country is futile. Opponents to NRA/Gungeon domination will be assimilated.

Go on about your business. There is no gun problem in the United States. There is absolutely nothing you can do to stop us anyway.

Except, that there IS something that the majority of Americans can do, and responsible gun owners like Gabby Giffords are making that perfectly clear. A new generation of Americans has grown up with horrific and frequent episodes of gun violence and the highest gun death rate in the civilized world, and they WILL make their voices heard. THAT is what I firmly believe.

The days when the NRA could purchase politicians to pass obscene SYG and CCW laws and promote the lax oversight of gun buyers are coming to an end. Maybe not in my lifetime, but at least I can have the satisfaction of knowing that I helped in the fight against gun insanity.

Would these be laws that have actually resulted in an increase in crime- or merely an increase
in 'pollution' by guns (as one Prohibitionist here terms it)?

many people would call "realists." Some CCW laws are indeed obscene when they allow anyone to carry a gun in public for any reason -- mainly just because they want to. I don't believe that the Second Amendment gives blanket approval for bearing any kind of arms anyplace, anytime, for any reason. I also believe that Heller left that interpretation wide open.

That the NRA has bullied, bought, and otherwise forcefully persuaded corrupt politicians to enact lax CCW and gun buyer laws in certain parts of the country, is undeniable. Florida is a good example of bad law leading to obscene results. My state, Hawaii, on the other hand has some very sensible gun laws and practices (mandatory registration including private transfers and sales, rare issuance of CCW based on need, among other reasonable regulations) which have resulted in the lowest gun death rate in the nation.

The assertion that more gunz equals less crime is an unproven and highly suspect correlation touted by the NRA as fact. In fact, better communication between law enforcement agencies, improved forensic techniques, and a myriad of other factors have greatly contributed to a reduced crime rate over the years. CCW and SYG laws not so much.

Lastly, I actually post outside the Gun Control Reform group quite often, but it IS more civil and mature over there.

He's finally outgrown his red dot we've had on his deer rifle for the past three years. We'll be moving his red dot to his crossbow when the scope comes in.

We don't have any real assault rifles just you run of the mill mid grade semi-auto AR's. I've set one up for hunting with a 4x12x50 scope, one for general plinking with a simple set of open sights and CMMG 22 bolt (never fired the 556 BCG), and one for shooting 3 gun and HD use. Light recoiling, low noise, easily adjustable for all four of us makes them the perfect family fun time rifles.

Is that the world is full of beautiful things: art, nature, and animals are only a few.

Why would you choose a rifle as something "the whole family can enjoy?"

It seems to focus on death, as there is only one purpose for a rifle. Why not focus your children on the beauty of life?

Sun Jul 28, 2013, 02:14 PM
Jul 2013

Even moreso at distances much past 200 meters or so.
In fact, if your hunting rifles had been in Vietnam, they would have been Army-issue sniper rifles:

In fact, Army snipers still use what is basically a hunting rifle:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M24_Sniper_Weapon_System

The M24 Sniper Weapon System (SWS) is the military and police version of the Remington 700 rifle, M24 being the model name assigned by the United States Army after adoption as their standard sniper rifle in 1988. The M24 is referred to as a "weapons system" because it consists of not only a rifle, but also a detachable telescopic sight and other accessories.

The M24 SWS had the "long-action" bolt version of the Remington 700 receiver because it originally was to use the .30-06 Springfield M72 Match cartridge. It turned out there was an insufficient amount of these rounds in a single lot of manufacture, so the operational requirement changed to use the dimensionally smaller 7.62×51mm NATO M118 Match Grade cartridge.

Sun Jul 28, 2013, 09:05 PM
Jul 2013

One is a 12 gauge shotgun. One is a 30-06 that I use twice a year (once to callibrate, one day to fun). The last is a .22 i used for target practice with a former army buddy,

All guns that can be fired are under lock and key with trigger locks in a locked gun case. ammo is in a different location. I have the only key. Since the vintage guns cannot be fired, they are on display.

I have taken every precaution. I have no doubt of what you say. . .but I, unlike gundamentalists, see my guns as the danger they are and act accordingly.

On top of that, when I went hunting, unlike the amateur nutjobs, I made sure I followed the idea of knowing what I was shooting at before I squeezed the trigger, to avoid shooting a deer in a red hat or a large, flesh colored squirrel.

If I can help explain it to you, you just need to ask. However, if you think I was laughing at the dead people, you really need to work on your reading comprehension.

It's not a bit slacktivist, no sirree-

It enables you to feel like you're actually 'done something' while providing amusement for those
that already agree with you....

everywhere in this ......oh what's the use, fuck civility! Stupidity, backwardness, ignorance, racism, bigotry, loss of human rights and civil and voting rights are THE hallmarks of amerikkkan culture, today. And all these are touted as exceptional and exemplary by FAUX News, RushPIG, Hannity, Beckless and the 47% that voted for romSHIT. Who could have figured with a history such as ours?

#40. JAMESTOWN, LA, 7/26/13: A Castor man lost his life today after putting a gun to his head and pulling the trigger. It wasn’t suicide. Bienville Parish Sheriff John Ballance said Seth Randall Rushing, 20, had pulled the trigger of a .22-caliber pistol four or five times but it misfired. “For whatever reason he put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger one more time and it discharged. He immediately fell to the ground,” Ballance said. Rushing had been with a group of other young men who were riding four-wheelers during the early morning hours. They returned around 2:30 a.m. to a residence on Watts Road in the Jamestown community and began unloading items from their ATVs. Rushing took the gun from his four-wheeler and attempted to fire it. When it misfired, Rushing commented to the others, “This thing doesn’t work.” And that’s when he pointed it at his head.

It's almost as if people don't realize that guns can be deadly.
