There are a number of psychiatrists who have openly claimed that homosexuality is not a disease and that there is nothing ‘wrong’ with a person who has embraced homosexuality as part of his/her life. They do, however, claim that homophobia should be treated as a mental disorder; given that the fact that it fits the definition of a phobia – in that it is an irrational fear.
