How does an elected government support a coup

We have a proverb in these parts - same knife stick goat stick sheep!!
Now the judiciary in Egypt is trumping up charges for the kidnapped President.

Freedom and democracy my ass!!! Which Western powers actually believe that?

There is a lot of placation taking place selling the idea that we are a free democracy, but the truth diverges greatly.
