You can parse whether it's a coup, or whether foreign policy dictates we ignore it

"We, of course, recognize that President Morsi was democratically elected." - State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki.

"Coup" is not actually all that nebulous of a concept. But the US seems to want to adorn itself with a cloak of false pragmatism over the issue by refusing to even voice a judgement over whether a coup occurred. Anyone who feels this is the correct path forward and supports continued aid to this mess should simply come out say it: "We f*&ing well are going to do what we want".
