He penned some awesome songs recorded by many different people. After Midnight, They call me the Breeze, Traveling Light, Cocaine and the list can go on for a while.
One, if not my favorite songwriters, performers of all time.
One of my favorites. The old man and me.
I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this.

(111,277 posts)To my credit, I've looked up who wrote those songs and therefore knew who JJ. Cale was.
RIP and thank you, JJ. You were an astonishing talent and you will be sorely missed.

(1,289 posts)A tremendous loss to all of us in the Tulsa music community.... he invented our sound in this town. I'm heading over to Eds Hurricane on 11th to sit in with some friends who run a jam session there on Saturday afternoons. I'm sure we will play a few JJ tunes and drink a few in his honor.
RIP John, we will miss you

(51,076 posts)Recorded with Leon Russell in '79 at Leon Russells Paradise Studio. I'm about 30 minutes into this and can't for the life of me get up and do my chores. JJ Cale and Leon Russell are awesome together. Both are excellent musicians with their unique styles. Cale is an awesome guitar player as you can see on this hour and 20 minute session.

One of my favorite artists. He and his band were sooo awesome in concert when I saw them, totally present in in the zone. He was one of a kind, nobody has ever copped JJ Cale successfully.
'Before I go under the ground, I want to make a JJ Cale album with him at the helm.'
Clapton described Cale's music as 'a strange hybrid. It's not really blues, it's not really folk or country or rock `n' roll. It's somewhere in the middle.'
