(NY) Public Comments on Proposed Animal Abuse Registry

Monroe County residents got a chance to comment on a proposed bill for a county animal abuser registry.

Democrats in the Monroe County Legislature addressed comments Thursday evening at the Perinton Community Center.

The registry would include the names of those convicted of committing serious animal abuse crimes and prevent convicted animal abusers from getting new pets.

"We are a community that loves our pets, and we really care about our animals. We've received so much positive feedback about this and its an idea just to try to cut down on people who are known to have abused animals to prohibit them from adopting future pets," said Minority Leader Carrie Andrews, D.

The legislature will start its process to review the Animal Abuser Registry Monday.
