I don't often talk about TV shows. The Bridge is an exception.

Anyone seen it? It's an FX show ostensibly about murders on the Texas Mexico border; specifically El Paso/Juarez, and the two detectives, one Mexican, the other U.S., assigned to the case which involves both countries. But the show really focuses on immigration and the wealth disparity as well as cultural tensions, the drug wars and the media take on all of the listed.

I live about as far from the Mexico U.S. border as you can get, so I'm not really qualified to judge the accuracy of the show's take on all of these issues, but I've found it a pretty compelling look at them.

So far the FX show is sticking pretty closely to the plot line of that one.

Definitely must see viewing on Wed nites.

If they were sticking more closely to the form of the original, US/Canada would make more sense - I'd say the relationship between those 2 countries is more like Denmark/Sweden than US/Mexico is. The " immigration and the wealth disparity" mentioned in the OP didn't come into the original at all.

illegals who cross their border into here are white and English speaking so we don't care. So I think choosing the other border provides more conflict and drama.

I's starting to see the female detective's character is sort of borish, as much the actress as the part she is playing I suppose. The actor doing the male detective's part is doing a great job and the story is just weird enough to hold the attention.

that's why her behavior comes off as boorish. The character can't read social cues very well at all.
