The American people, who once defended Edward Snowdens leaks of sensitive intelligence information gathered by the U.S. government, are starting to turn against him.
A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows that a majority of Americans 53 percent now say the Snowden should be charged with a crime for his leaks. Thats up from 43 percent less than a month ago.
Over that same span, the percentage saying Snowden should not be charged has dropped from 48 percent to 36 percent.
Much of the movement comes from conservatives and moderates, who are now more likely to say Snowden should be charged with a crime. Among conservatives, 56 percent believe he should be charged, and 40 percent feel strongly about it.

(654 posts)That reminds me of that Twain quote, "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.."
I think pollsters can be capable of all of that and more from time to time depending on where they get their paycheck.

(30,439 posts)Fleeing to Russia and divulging US secrets to foreign countries has turned Americans against him? Perhaps his hiring an ex-KGB lawyer and seeking Russian citizenship will bring Americans back to his side....
Oh.....

(19,326 posts)At least the ones who knew better initially, knew that Snowden is
the real deal whistle-blower he claims to be, yet mysteriously allowed
their views to be sucker-punched with smears being echoed by M$M.

(7,143 posts)Snowden, "former" Paulite who believed that leakers should be shot in the balls, "evolved". Greenwald, one-time George Bush fanboy, "evolved".
The American public, once-upon-a-time civil libertarians... devolved.
Very astute, friend!

(34,825 posts)that really sucks. of course, it doesn't change fuckall on the unfettered surveillance, but I suppose this is a big relief to the surveillance state supporters that will achieve a smug sense of satisfaction to know people think snowden is a big poopyhead.

(118,332 posts)large numbers of folk have no idea who Snowden is; those who know are more inclined to view him as a whistleblower rather than as a traitor, but only a handful support him, and most think he should be prosecuted for his acts -- and although people are increasingly uncomfortable with the NSA story, a majority still seem to support the NSA

(772 posts)Then a poll comes out showing Americans don't worship their hero:
"FUCK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE... THEY'RE STUPID... WHAT THE FUCK DO THEY KNOW?"
That's how you talk about people you're concerned about, right there.

(75,480 posts)old shoe leather should he come back to face the music, are not Snowden lovers, nor are we Snowden worshippers. We are people who have some real concerns about how our security agencies and government are going on some really scary power trips with very little regard for human rights these days. We want answers and your juvenile name calling doesn't serve anything except to make you look like you belong back in junior high. Grow up!

(13,685 posts)Really? The American people just look the other way as Bush walks away.
And you think ABC poll is worth even mentioning in the wake of thousands dead in Iraq? Have you no sense of shame? We know ABC does not.

(75,480 posts)to while I'm driving around running errands. It was about Hamid Karzai, the corrupt Bush puppet we have been propping up to run Afghanistan. Some high level military mucky muck was being interviewed and he said that the Taliban will have him hanging from the highest lamppost the minute we are gone so we are going to have to give him enough money to get himself and his family out of there before that happens.
REALLY? Why do we have to do anything for any of those Bush Administration shit heads? Why I thought we went into Afghanistan to wipe out the Taliban and now we are going to turn it back to them? Oh, I'm all for leaving, but I'm also all for arresting Bush for these bad deals he made at taxpayer's expense. If he wants to save Karzai's ass, I want him to do it on his dime not ours.

(13,685 posts)What sucks is we have homeless vets here and we are gonna end up making sure Karzai gets a home. Bush people must feel he is more important than our vets?
Wonder if ABC will ever have a poll on that situation?

Posting an ABC poll as if it were of some importance, when ABC was all for the war on Iraq. Where is their shame? Have they none at all? Just letting ABCnews wag their tail?
